Former FIFA referee Sergei Shebek commented on the refereeing in yesterday's match of the 10th round of the championship of Ukraine Kolos - Shakhtar (0:1), in which the chief referee of the meeting canceled the goal in the gate of the Donetsk team.
"Again we saw referee bloopers. We cannot say that this is a scandal, but the poor work of the refereeing team can be stated.
What happened in the 90+2nd minute? Colos attacked, Diego got the ball, but in the fight with Enrique he deliberately hit the opponent's face with his hand. The latter fell down, which confused referee Derevinsky, who felt in his heart that there must be a violation. He stopped for a moment, apparently waiting for help from assistant Nizhnik, who could see the moment clearly. But without waiting for anything from his colleague, he continued to follow the attack, which ended with a goal for Shakhtar.
And then, fortunately, VAR-arbitrator Romanov said the decisive word, inviting to watch the moment with an infringement. Derevinsky correctly canceled the goal, showing Diego a yellow card. The truth had prevailed. But the case could not have been brought to the monitor. If Derevinski had seen with his own eyes the kick to the face, then there would be no reason for discussion. It's not a complicated moment. And if Nizhnik had not adhered to the rule "my house is on the edge". After all, from his position he saw everything perfectly well, but his inaction put Derevinsky under criticism. Unfortunately, very often our referees do not see anything, and the VAR-machine judges instead of them. And the game was not an easy one," said Shebek.
