The former football player of Kyiv’s “Dynamo”, Italian “Milan”, now mayor of Tbilisi and pro-Russian politician Kakha Kaladze commented on the imposition of sanctions against him by Ukraine.
“I understand the situation of this person, I mean Zelensky. I wouldn't wish anyone to be in the position he is in now. Today he does not belong to himself, he does not belong to his family and, what is most difficult, he does not belong to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. He serves the interests of another country.
I am sure that the Ukrainian people will very soon understand and analyze all the processes that have taken place and with whose support the misfortune that, unfortunately, is happening in Ukraine today occurred. This is all very hard, and I understand the position of this person.
My answer is very simple: in Georgia and Tbilisi there are many Ukrainian families who escaped from the troubles of the war that continues in Ukraine. These families, these children benefit from numerous privileges established for them by the Tbilisi mayor's office. We will, of course, continue to support all these families, all these children, and that will be our response to what Zelensky announced,” Kaladze said in a comment to Georgian media.
