— We will be happy to play against such a legendary club as Kyiv’s Dynamo, especially in such a prestigious tournament as the Europa League. It is very important for us to play matches of this level. So I can only say the warmest words both about our opponent and about such matches in general. We are very happy to be here.
— What are the strengths and weaknesses of the current Dynamo?
— We understand that we will face a very serious team. We always analyze our opponents very seriously, and Kyiv’s Dynamo is no exception.
A year ago, we played against Dynamo in Turkey during the pre-season preparation (Dynamo—RFSH—1:0, — note. ed.). Many players who are now in the squads of Dynamo and RFSH participated in that friendly match. Recently, I re-watched that match: I wanted to understand how our opponent has changed since then and how we need to play against them now.
Of course, we know all about the strengths of Dynamo, we know how this team will want to play against us. We are also aware of all the strong players currently in Dynamo’s squad who could be particularly dangerous. The same words apply to the weaknesses of Dynamo.
But for us, the most important thing is our game; we primarily focus on how we will play, not on the opponent. We are a club that tries to improve and grow, and when we prepare for the next opponent, we first think about our game, about how we want to play on the field and how to implement what we know to achieve the necessary result.
— The current sports director of RFSH, Maris Verpakovskis, played for many years at Kyiv’s Dynamo. Did you consult with him in preparing for the upcoming match?
— Of course, we communicate a lot with Maris; he is a legend of our football and knows a lot. He spent good years in Kyiv. Yes, we spoke with him; he knows more about the situation in the Kyiv club, its transfers, its players, everything that happened recently and can be useful information for us. But even without Verpakovskis’ words, we are well acquainted with Kyiv’s Dynamo; there is great interest in it in our country. So, I think we know our opponent as well as possible.
