The format of the championship of Ukraine in the first league of the season 2022/23 has been actually approved. The tournament will be held in two stages. And its launch is scheduled for August 27.
At the first stage of the first league, 16 teams will be divided by territory into two groups of eight clubs each. A "championship" group will be formed from the best teams, in which awards and tickets to the Premier League will be played, the worst clubs of the first stage will fight to maintain residence in the first division.

Based on the results of the first stage of the championship, the teams that took 1-4 places in their groups, taking into account the points scored in matches between themselves, will form a group that will fight for the Premier League.
At the second stage, the teams will play matches only with rivals from another group in two rounds. Teams that take 1-2 places in the second stage go directly to the Premier League. The team that took third place in the second stage will play a transitional match with the UPL club, which finished in 14th position. The team that finishes fourth in the PFL will play in a transitional clash with the club that finished 13th in the Premier League.
According to the same principle - taking into account points in matches between themselves, fights with opponents from another group in two rounds - the second stage will be played by the participants of the second group, which will be formed from the teams that took 5-8 places in their groups at the first stage. The team that takes the last place in the group is directly relegated to the Second League. The team finishing in seventh position will play a transitional match with the club that finished second in the second division championship.
The start of the national championship in the first division is scheduled for August 27. According to unofficial information, all matches of each round will be broadcast live. It is planned that they will be carried out on the official YouTube channels of the clubs.
