The Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Vadym Gutzeit, commented on the decision of the Ukrainian government that Ukrainian athletes will participate in the competition only if there are no Russians or Belarusians.
Vadim Gutzeit- This was based on the decisions of our Ukrainian federations. I gathered them several times, the presidents, the athletes' commission headed by Georgiy Zantaraya. He gathered a commission of athletes, presidents, and our famous athletes, who all expressed their opinion that they would not participate where Russian and Belarusian athletes would compete.
We met and decided that we would continue the fight to exclude the Russians and Belarusians. Nothing has been decided yet regarding the Olympics, 100% has not been decided. Bach said that this is just a conversation about international competitions. We all need to work to keep them out of international competitions," Gutzeit said.
