Roma head coach Jose Mourinho, who previously led Chelsea, has revealed he wanted to sign another striker for the London club instead of Andriy Shevchenko.

"Shevchenko was not my first choice. I asked for another player and I know that the club at the time did everything to sign me the players I wanted, or at least one of them. And when I was offered Shevchenko - I accepted because he is undoubtedly a quality player. At Milan, Shevchenko was like a prince, but at Chelsea it was a different philosophy. We didn't have princes," the Daily Mail quoted Mourinho as saying.
