Former Barcelona defender Dani Alves will continue to be in jail despite a new motion filed by the footballer's defence, Marca reports.
According to the source, the judge in Alves' case rejected the new motions filed by Dani Alves' representatives. The ex-Brazilian national team player's defence argued that the sexual relations between him and the girl at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona were consensual. The lawyers also claimed that their client would not leave Spain after being released.
As a reminder, Dani Alves is suspected of raping a 23-year-old girl in a Barcelona club. The footballer initially gave false testimony, but later admitted that he had sexual relations with the girl. Joana Sanz, the footballer's wife, filed for divorce. The Brazilian faces up to 12 years in prison.
