Mohammed Imad, spokesman for the Iraqi national team, said that the country's football federation had abandoned the idea of holding a friendly game against Russia.
"The Iraqi Football Federation considered holding a friendly match between the Iraqi and Russian national teams on FIFA Day, September 7, but everything remained at the stage of interest. We decided to participate in a friendly tournament of four national teams: Iraq, Jordan, Qatar and Iran. The championship will be held in Jordan in early September.
As for our relations with the RAF, the federations cooperate with each other. However, there are no talks between the FFI and the RAF about holding friendly matches between the main national teams at the moment," said Imad.
