Former Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Benjamin Verbic, who now plays for Greek side Panathinaikos, has spoken out on the break-up with his girlfriend, Ukrainian Alvina Tsarenko, who not long ago accused him of having a transgender relationship.
"I've never been comfortable talking about personal things in public. I rarely answered questions about such things, otherwise I'm sure it would have been disrespectful to my son. These things don't concern him at all. He's not guilty of anything.
It was certainly difficult for me in that situation. As a professional athlete, you spend a lot of time training, physically preparing your body, which is not easy in itself. And when you have to be torn between that and problems in your personal life, it is very difficult.
In every relationship break-up, it's hard only in the beginning. Then things gradually begin to take their place. This is what happened in my case as well. My attitude in life is to always look forward with a positive attitude, learning lesson after lesson from the past. That is the only way to overcome problems. The most important thing is that everything goes well with my child, and the rest will sort itself out, the rest is already easier," Ekipa24 quoted Verbic as saying.
