Renowned Ukrainian coach Vyacheslav Groznyy has shared his opinion on the possible dismissal of Croatian Igor Jovicevic from the post of Shakhtar Donetsk head coach.
"Igor Jovicevic is a patriot of Ukraine, he learned the language. Not only that, under him Shakhtar have squeezed more than they had opportunities. Just remember the friendlies - the majority of journalists wrote that Shakhtar would not make it into the top three, there was no one to play.
To make within a short period of time a team that successfully played in the European competitions and became the champion - you should applaud and offer the man an extension of the contract on his terms. Such a coach should be supported. There is something we do not know.
Most likely some agents don't like the fact that the coach is uncomfortable and won't take players from their agency corporation. I think so, that's my view. There is no smoke without fire, he met all the criteria. He worked very well both in Dnipro 1, and in Karpaty. It is evident that behind the scenes work has been going on for a long time, it does not come in one day. Of course, they will [say] that a man wants to join his family, that he is tired. They will thank him for his work. And I believe that he was ready to keep growing and working," Grozny said on the Football Format programme on the Espreso YouTube channel.
