The sporting director of the German Football Association, Rudi Völler, has spoken about his thoughts on the friendly match between Germany and Ukraine to be held tomorrow in Bremen and also recalled the confrontation between the German and Ukrainian national teams in the play-off of the 2002 World Cup qualifying round when he was the head coach of the Bundesliga side.
"Never in my life I have not felt as much pressure as I did in those two games against Ukraine in the play-offs for qualifying to the World Cup 2002 (1-1, 4-1 - ed.). I knew that if anything went wrong my career with the German national team would be over.
As for the upcoming game in Bremen, it will not be a friendly, but a full international match. After all, it is the 1000th match in the history of the German national team! I am sure the Ukrainians will give their all on the pitch, but so will we!
