In Italy, players have been banned from wearing the number 88 jersey from next season. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports this.
The decision was reportedly taken by the Italian government as part of a programme to combat anti-Semitism. The number 88 is used as a Nazi salute.
It should be recalled that last season in the Italian championship four players played under the number 88: Mario Paszalic, Toma Basic, Tomas Rincon and Mateusz Praselik.
