Poltava Vorskla head coach Viktor Skrypnyk summarised the results of his team's return match against Georgian Dila (1-3) in the 2nd qualifying round of the Conference League, which took place yesterday in Gori. Recall, on the sum of the two meetings (2:1, 1:3) the Ukrainian team dropped out of the tournament.
"The score according to the game. I congratulate the opponent.
I understand what were the expectations from "Vorskla", but we are in the reality that is, and we know how hard it is for us. We play the way we can. We are patient. And there is always a human factor. An individual mistake can always lead to a goal. Besides, we played with the fear of making a mistake. And when you are afraid to make a mistake, it is the mistake that eventually happens.
Nevertheless, I am grateful to the team for fighting. But "Dila" beat us on business. A good lesson for us. Such matches give the players useful experience.
Do not reproach us, do not say that we owed something. We do not owe anything. We played for "Vorskla", for ourselves, for our fans. It's a pity that we lost," Skrypnyk said at the post-match press conference.
