Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has criticised the Reds for their unsuccessful transfer policy in the summer off-season.
- "It leaves Liverpool in quite a difficult position. People now know they are desperate. Today they offered £60 million for Lavia, but five days ago they refused to pay £50 million for him. It's an absolute mess and a laughing stock.
The biggest problem is that Liverpool have known they needed to strengthen their midfield since last August, 12 months ago. But they didn't put things in order until now...
People think I'm defending FSG. But I have no contact with them. It's not their fault. It's the structure of the football club. Yes, they have a great coach, but they had Michael Edwards as sporting director and a transfer committee under him. It worked. Then he left," said Jamie Carragher.
As a reminder, Liverpool signed Alexis McCallister and Dominic Soboslai in the summer transfer window.
