Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation uncovered a scheme to falsely enlist relatives of Ivano-Frankivsk city officials and football players from a local professional club, the SBI's official website reports.
The scheme allowed the defendants to avoid military service, effectively evading mobilisation. In addition, they received financial and material support from the state budget. During the investigation, the SBI conducted about 30 searches in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
We would like to add that the only professional football club in Ivano-Frankivsk is Prykarpattia, which plays in the First League.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Prykarpattia announced that 14 players and coaches had joined the Ukrainian armed forces. After that, the club was renamed Prykarpattia ZSU.
