English Premier League clubs have set a record for spending in the summer transfer window.
According to the audit firm Deloitte, this summer, Premier League clubs spent £2.36 billion on transfers of newcomers. The league set a new record for spending in a single transfer window, exceeding last year's figure by £440 million.
On the last day of the transfer window, clubs spent £255 million, which is twice as much as last year's figure (£120 million). The 2023/24 season has already become the second highest transfer spend in the history of the Premier League, although the winter transfer window is still ahead. Last season, the English Premier League clubs spent £2.73 billion.
