Former Belgium midfielder Frankie Van der Elst has spoken out on the topic of the transfer of Ukrainian striker Roman Yaremchuk on loan from Belgian Brugge to Spanish Valencia.
"The negativity around Yaremchuk in "Brugge" has become too great. Therefore, for me his departure did not come as a surprise.
Yaremchuk moved to a great club from a fantastic city. Valencia really has everything for happiness. Yaremchuk could have ended up in a worse place. Hopefully the sun will do him some good.
It remains to be seen whether Yaremchuk will be able to play at Valencia, but if he does, the confidence he has gained could benefit Brugge next season," Van der Elst was quoted as saying by Het Nieuwsblad.
