Artem Panchenko, Head of Sports Broadcasting at MEGOGO, spoke about the situation with the broadcast of Ukrainian championship matches.
- What is the reason why the UPL-TV match pages are currently unavailable on the MEGOGO platform? Does this mean that there will be a fee for watching them?
- We have an agreement with the UPL, according to which we could show the matches of the first six rounds for free, and then wait for updates from the UPL regarding the distribution model for the following rounds in accordance with the clubs' decision. Now we and other platforms are waiting for the same permission to show the seventh round for free. It will be received in the coming hours.
- So, it's a kind of delay until the clubs finally decide in what format to show the matches in the future?
- Yesterday, a large constructive meeting of representatives of UPL clubs took place, at which models for distributing UPL-TV content in the 2023/24 season were presented. Currently, the clubs are studying each of the key options in detail and must consolidate and vote for the development path that suits them. We hope that this vote will take place in the coming days.
After that, the UPL will issue a statement on the format in which matches will be shown in the future. That is, the seventh round will be shown free of charge, and then everything depends on the vote of the UPL clubs.
