Obolon director Oleksandr Riznichenko explained why VAR will be used at the match between Obolon and Veres in the 8th round of the Ukrainian championship on 22 September, despite the club's statement that it will not use the system at home matches.

We had previously submitted a letter to refuse VAR at our stadium, but unfortunately, we did not receive a response. They make this decision, it is their right. We are not going to forbid them. But we have sent a letter saying that we will not pay for it.
We're not going to put on a circus to keep journalists writing: "Obolon did not allow VAR to enter the stadium," Riznichenko said in a commentary to UPL TV.
