French Ligue 1 has banned Nice's Algerian player Youssef Atal for seven matches for reposting a video on social media calling for a "rainy day for the Jews," the league's official website reports.

Now the Algerian will not play until mid-December. Earlier, Atal apologised for a scandalous video with a preacher calling for a "rainy day for the Jews" amid the conflict in Israel and Gaza, which he posted on his social media. The Algerian could have been kicked off the team for supporting Hamas. He soon deleted the post, and the club decided to suspend Yousef until further notice.
