Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso commented on the team's performance in the first half of the season after the 4-0 win over Bochum in the German Championship matchday 16.
"The first 30 minutes were difficult for us, quite tense. After the second goal, we started to control the game and the hardest part was over. The players showed a strong mentality. Now the team is going to have a well-deserved rest.
Of course, we hoped to play the first part of the season at a high level. We are in a good position and we are enjoying this moment. We want to keep moving in the same direction," Alonso was quoted as saying by Bayer's press service.
