The head coach of Obolon Kyiv Valeriy Ivashchenko summed up his team's performance in the first part of the current season (13th place in the standings of the Ukrainian league after 17 rounds and reaching the quarter-finals of the Ukrainian Cup).
"Many experts did not expect the result we have. At the beginning of the championship, everyone said that Obolon would be somewhere in last place at the end of the first round. We refuted this and proved with our performance that the team can compete with others and achieve good results.
Not everything went well in the matches, we could have lost or won, but that's football. I have already said that there is a certain lack of experience on the part of both the coaching staff and the players. Therefore, we all have something to work on. We always want to move up, and I think this is not our final position. We will do our best, and we need to prepare well in order to gain a foothold in the standings.
What are your objectives for the second part of the championship? Since the beginning of the season, we have been aiming to secure a place in the top ten. I think this would be a very good result for a newcomer to the UPL. To do this, we need to work hard at the training camp we have planned and make reinforcements for certain positions," Ivashchenko was quoted as saying by Obolon's official website.
