Former Ukrainian national team striker Ivan Getsko told us what prevented Serhiy Rebrov's team from achieving a positive result at the start of the tournament - in the game against Albania - and advised what could help our guys against the Czechs:

After all, how else to evaluate the actions of the Ukrainians when, in a match where they were considered favorites, they struck the first shot at the opponent's goal only before the break. Moreover, when our team scored in the second half, quite by accident, they somehow failed to take care of the reliability of the rear and paid the price a few minutes later, allowing the opponent to restore parity in a scuffle in the penalty area. The comedy of errors did not end there, as the nominal hosts soon conceded for the second time.
- Which of the Ukrainians was the most disappointing?
- You know, it's easier to say who has fewer complaints - Ilya Zabarny and Anatoly Trubin. The rest did not live up to expectations. By the way, the Ukrainian national team is in the process of reassessing its values, which began at the recent Euro in Germany. In my opinion, the press coverage of the exorbitant price tags that club bosses have put on Hryhoriy Sudakov, Mykola Shaparenko and others only does harm. I'm not going to discuss whether these players are worth those millions, but these transfer rumors are a big obstacle in the training process, in the mood for matches.
As a result, after each unsuccessful match like the one with the Albanians, there are fewer and fewer buyers for our players, and their price is rapidly falling. These are the realities: you have to prove your professionalism on the football field.
- In the match with the Albanians, we were unpleasantly surprised by positional mistakes during the drawing of standard positions. We could have conceded even more if goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin hadn't helped out in several episodes after corner kicks. How can this be avoided in a game with the Czechs?
- If we give the initiative to the Czechs, they will definitely score after overhead passes. That's why we need to be number one, play down low, and use split passes. The Ukrainians have enough speedy players who can run away from their pursuers.
