- I congratulate all Dynamo fans on a very important victory. We understood perfectly well what kind of game awaits us. All Yuriy Vernidub's teams are characterized by a great desire to play very actively, in some places - aggressively. And we tuned the guys that first of all, we should not lose to our opponent in these components.
The difficult logistics added to it. It is very good that Yarmolenko and Buyalskiy, who I could not involve in the match with Hoffenheim, having missed a few days, were able to have one training session and helped us today. It is very easy to play with 13-15 players in such a schedule. That's why from the very beginning we started to rotate the squad, give everyone the opportunity to play, so that all the players realize that they are an important part of our team. This has its results.
- On the way from Germany to Ukraine, your team had a training session in Lublin. Are you trying to make the best of it?
- Logistics gives a certain charm to our training process. And indeed we are trying our best. When we flew to Hamburg for our first match there, we realized that there are certain challenges and certain opportunities that we have to take advantage of. We are changing, adapting to the situation, improving. To progress, you have to constantly improve.
It was very good that we decided to fly out of Germany the next morning after the match with Hoffenheim. The flight was delayed for two hours, but it did not prevent us from training in Lublin. To be more precise, it was more of a warm-up than a training session. The players from the main squad of our match in Germany did some running and recovery work, while the rest of the players got a more tangible load. After that, we had dinner and took a train to Kyiv, and upon arrival at our base in Koncha-Zaspa we started to prepare directly for today's game. We didn`t even have time to analyze the match with "Hoffenheim". But for today's game we prepared, in principle, well and in the first half we showed the developments that we had for this game.
And now our "national team" are going to the location of the national team of Ukraine. You must understand the schedule in which we work...
- Apart from logistics, are there any other reasons why your team did not look very convincing in the second half?
- I think it was the loads we had, as well as logistical problems related to the war, which has been going on in our country for more than 10 years and two and a half years - full-fledged, that made its imprint. We understood this, and it is good that today everything has turned out the way it did. Of course, we lacked freshness in this game. That's for sure.
- Is it possible to change the host city for European Cup home matches?
- Unfortunately, we can not change it. Hamburg was announced as our "home" city, and it can't be changed. So it is as it is.
Yarmolenko and Buyalskyi just yesterday had their first full training session, and after the match with Hoffenheim we could not count on Pikhalenok and Brazko. The former has an injury of the flounder muscle, and now he will need about three weeks to recover. And Brazhko, in addition to having problems with ribs, also has a damaged adductor muscle. Therefore, both of them will not be able to go to the location of the national team of Ukraine. But Yarmolenko and Buyalskyi have been called up there. Shepelev also has problems. Ceballos is recovering. As a result, now we will have 9-10 field players. We will have to involve the guys from the youth team in our training process.
Now the players will get three days off, and then we will work in the normal mode.
- How do you like Guerrero's game, how is his adaptation going? And why didn`t you let him shoot a penalty today?
- I never decide who will shoot a penalty. It is decided by the players. As for the adaptation of Guerrero, there is a normal aura, atmosphere around him. He has almost fully integrated into our team as a person, but he still needs more understanding and skills in terms of adapting to the requirements that exist in our team. It will take time. But I am happy with his actions, he gives us creativity. Besides, competition is never unnecessary. Only in the presence of competition will grow both the player and the team.
