This weekend, matches of the 11th round of the Ukrainian Championship of the 2024/25 season took place. One of them was held on Sunday, October 27, between Kyiv’s "Dynamo" and Donetsk’s "Shakhtar". The match took place in Kyiv at the "Dynamo" stadium named after Valery Lobanovsky.

The guests had the first chance to score in this match: in the 6th minute, "Dynamo" faltered in the center, Zubkov found space before the penalty area, but his shot faced active interference from Popov and Dubinchak, so the shot was not particularly challenging for Bushchan, who caught the ball comfortably. Two minutes later, Zubkov shot from about 20 meters, and the ball hit the crossbar of Kyiv’s goal. "Dynamo" responded to all this with a long-range shot from Brazhko, but it was inaccurate.

Afterwards, "Shakhtar" had the advantage, leading to two more dangerous moments. In both cases, Sikan attempted headers from outside "Dynamo’s" penalty area. The first shot was quite inaccurate, but after the second the ball flew just inches from the post. "Dynamo" also had a decent opportunity: in the finishing phase of their attack, Buyalskyi had a chance for a prepared shot from the left side of the penalty area, but he decided to make a cross to the far post, which was intercepted. As a result, the first half ended with zeros on the scoreboard.

Right after the break, the score was opened. After "Shakhtar" took a corner from the left flank, Eghinaldo made a header from about 8 meters, Bushchan managed to react, but the ball landed with Bondarenko right in the penalty area, and he effectively scored on the rebound — 0:1.

"Dynamo" could have equalized just four minutes later but missed a great opportunity to do so: Dubinchak made a flank pass to the near post, where Voloshyn shot from five meters unimpeded but managed to direct the ball way over the goal. Then, Dubinchak made a cannon shot from the edge of the penalty area — this time, the ball barely grazed the post.

On the 58th minute, "Dynamo" gained a numerical advantage: Krysykiv jumped from behind into Bilovar's legs and quite deservedly saw a red card in front of him. However, the next goal-scoring opportunity was created by the "miners" — Konoplya shot from the right side of the penalty area, Bushchan was outplayed, and Bilovar saved his team by clearing the ball off the goal line. "Dynamo" responded with a long-range cannon shot from Brazhko, after which the ball flew over the crossbar.

The final minutes of the match were spent in "Shakhtar’s" half of the pitch. The "Dynamo" players had no goal-scoring opportunities during this stretch, but shortly before the final whistle, Shovkovskiy’s team finally succeeded: on the 87th minute, Dubinchak crossed from the left to the far post, where Karavaev sent the ball into the net with a volley — 1:1.

After this result, "Dynamo" lost its sole leadership in the Ukrainian Championship standings and now shares the first and second places with "Oleksandriya", ahead of third-placed "Polissya" by four points.

In the next round, "Dynamo" awaits a home match against "Inhulets" from Petrove. This meeting will take place next Sunday, November 3, in Kyiv at the "Dynamo" stadium named after Valery Lobanovsky (kick-off at 18:00). Before that, on the upcoming Wednesday, October 30, the "Dynamo" players will play a match in Poltava for the 1/8 finals of the Ukrainian Cup against the local "Vorskla".
