Honored coach of Ukraine Myron Markevych shared his impressions from yesterday’s match of the Europa League, in which Kyiv’s “Dynamo” was crushed by the Hungarian “Ferencváros” — 0:4:
“I still cannot find an answer to the question: what could have happened during the break with the Kyivans, who played so poorly in the second half? I agree, playing with 10 men from the 17th minute is difficult, but it's not a disaster. However, I do not understand Dubinchak's action, as there was no direct threat to the Kyiv's goal. How can one not recall that in a recent ‘classical’ match, a senseless expulsion in a similar situation of Donetsk's Krysyk led to the loss of points for ‘Shakhtar’, which may be missed at the finish. However, as you can see, no one seems to draw conclusions from mistakes.
But the facts are stubborn: in the second half, “Dynamo” simply fell apart: compactness in actions disappeared, positional mistakes began, and the center of defense resembled a thoroughfare. This led to a crushing defeat, a result that I am sure the guests did not even dream of. It seems that the youth of Kyiv has simply forgotten that they are defending the sports honor of a team that has always been known for its toughness.
Therefore, I would advise coach Oleksandr Shovkovskyi to review the video of the Cup Winners’ Cup final from 1975 between “Dynamo” and “Ferencváros” with his players right after returning home, in which the Kyivans not only confidently won but also demonstrated high skill and fighting spirit,” said Markevych.
