Well-known football expert Oleksandr Sopko evaluated the chances of the Ukrainian national team in the qualification for the 2026 World Cup, which starts in 2025.
“If we face the French national team, it will be difficult to fight for first place,” Sopko believes. “But we should beat Azerbaijan and Iceland. I don’t see who can take points from France, apart from us... Realistically for us — to take second place. And then there’s the playoffs, where this Ukrainian team has mostly positive experience. Our team only did not advance past Italy in the playoffs. Against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Scotland, we performed successfully. It’s important that Serhiy Rebrov has such experience,” emphasized Oleksandr Oleksandrovych.
