Formerly known coach, now an expert Oleg Fedorchuk shared his thoughts on the transfer policy of Kyiv's "Dynamo" and Donetsk "Shakhtar".
— As expected, the "miners" and the Kyivans decided to hold back their transfer "trump cards" until February, when the final stage of preparation for the second part of the UPL championship and the Ukrainian Cup begins. It is then that newcomers, who claim leading roles, should appear. As for the players currently on trial, it cannot be said.
— Can we say that our giants do not plan to strengthen before the January matches on the international stage?
— Everything is heading that way. "Dynamo" no longer claims for the European spring, and only a miracle can help the "miners" advance further in the Champions League. But only the most devoted fans of the Donetsk club believe in this.
What surprises me is why the Kyivans and the "miners" in their selection work are betting on inviting young players, especially legionnaires? Even if they prove themselves well, what is the guarantee that under wartime conditions they will want to return to Ukraine in six months?
— What direction should our leading clubs adhere to in their transfer policy?
— In my opinion, "Shakhtar" should have long abandoned the focus on Brazilian legionnaires. Those were the days when players from this country were in demand among well-known European clubs. I think it would be more logical for our teams to invite experienced players from the Balkan countries, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia.
And one more thought: it is very disappointing that our giants, who recently had authority on the international stage, still do not belong to any pool where one of the participants would be a reputable foreign club. This is a serious miscalculation by club managers. If they were part of such a pool, it would simplify the profitable sale of their "stars" or the rental of known masters.
— Could it happen that "Dynamo" remains passive in the transfer market in February?
— I don’t think so, because the Kyivans need quality reinforcements. The goal is the championship title. A central defender, midfielder, and forward are needed. If "Dynamo" loses its significant points advantage, it will be a serious blow to the club's image and Alexander Shovkovskiy's coaching career. Therefore, the Kyivans must ensure that they do not end up in the role of a miser who pays twice.
