Sports doctor Dmytro Babeliuk commented on the information from former journalist Ihor Burbas, who once again stated that Mykhailo Mudryk might have received banned meldonium during stem cell injections while with the Ukraine national team.
«We continue to play around with Mudryk and cow biomaterials. Burbas indeed mixed everything up, but we deciphered the code correctly based on the clues — it is indeed about Actovegin now.
In this case, I would really like to quote Volochai one more time, that the ban should be not only for doping use but also for stupidity. I do not want to comment on the likelihood of accidental ingestion of meldonium through "stuffing" calves with it, because I am not a veterinarian, but the fact of regular administration of Actovegin to the player already says too much.
Actovegin is a cringe-inducing, ineffective, unproven drug synthesized from calf blood and was released to the market by an Austrian company. It is not yet banned by WADA, but many athletes and organizations insist on its ban due to the danger to the athlete and the lack of proven effectiveness. The same applies to meldonium.
As of today, this drug has not proven its effectiveness in any clinical trials, and considering the risk of anaphylactic shock, it is banned in the USA and European countries. It is primarily widespread in countries where medicine is underdeveloped and where there is a low level of education among doctors, scientific base, and regulation of medical products.
That is why in the CIS countries there are the most recommendations for taking this crap in all situations — from stroke rehabilitation to muscle tears. According to the manufacturer's idea, injecting calf blood extract is supposed to promote quicker and more effective wound healing and improve microcirculation in the injection area. This drug can be administered intravenously, intra-arterially, or intramuscularly. The problem is that no matter how you administer it, there will be no effect.
However, unfortunately, to know this one must know languages, rely on modern science, and be oriented towards Europe and America in medical approaches, not towards dirty russkies, where, by the way, four people recently died from anaphylactic shock caused by Actovegin.
Conclusions here are unlikely to be significant. The question of the entry of meldonium is still open. However, if the people around Mudryk have enough 'education' to administer Actovegin, then it is not far from directly administering meldonium. Typically, all this comes as a package.
Well, for all players, this is another lesson that one must think carefully and thoroughly check those who form your closest circle of trusted individuals. After all, mistakes in this area can often be fatal», — wrote Babeliuk on his telegram channel.
