Ukrainian coach Sergey Lavrinenko told how the process of his recent dismissal from the position of Ingulets mentor took place.
“After bad games, every coach can expect that call to come. After the match with Metalist 1925 (1:2, — ed. note) I got a call from club president Alexander Povoroznyuk, thanked me for the work done, and in a very calm manner said: "Something needs to be changed in order to give the team a new impetus and a shake-up." I think this is a deliberate decision of the president, not an emotional one.
As a leader, I understand him. It seems that the team does not lose in the game, but at some moments stupid balls fly to us. With "Metalist 1925" there were two standards and two goals conceded, although the game was far from losing. In the first half, we hit the post, in the second - the crossbar, everything went well for us, but, unfortunately, we lost the match.
If the team does not achieve results, then it is clear that the president has to take some action. I am not the first and, unfortunately, not the last coach who can find himself in such a situation.
I am not looking for excuses, but I think that if it were not for the war, then everything would have turned out differently for Ingulets. We were not staffed in time, the players came to us in different conditions, we lost a lot of players. Crumpled preparation and lack of luck also affected - we create chances, but not lucky, ”Lavrinenko quotes fanday.
