Former Bordeaux, Marseille and France striker Eric Cantona has made some surprising comments about football in his country.
"French football has no history. It's the only country in the world where you can't have two teams in the same city. There are people who love football, there are real fans, but not so much that there are two clubs in one city.
And maybe I'm an old jerk but I prefer to support football which has soul in it, which has something that touches me. In Paris, I would rather go to Red Star in St. Ouen than PSG," Le Parisien quotes Cantona, who, it may be recalled, ended his career in 1997.
