The famous Ukrainian coach Oleh Fedorchuk commented on the situation with the sending off of Kyiv Dynamo and U-21 forward Vladyslav Vanat in the match of the 2nd round of Euro-2023 group stage (U-21) with Romania (1:0).
It must be recalled the forward pushed the rival roughly while getting ready to the penalty kick. As a result, Vanat was given a two-match suspension. He missed the encounter with Spain (2-2) in the final round of the group stage, and will also not play in the quarterfinal against France.

Remember how 'persistent' in this regard our defenders were - Khacheridi, Rakitskiy, a bit earlier - the explosive Yezerskyy, who was feared by everyone, and before that - Luzhny and Kuznetsov.
So, I think it will be a good lesson for both Vanatay and Ruslan Rotan, the youth team mentor. We must prepare players so that they wouldn't think about themselves, but about the final result of the team. Our youth team's task is not an easy one, it is to qualify for the Olympics and, if possible, win the European Championship. Why not, when we were runners-up at the 2006 continental championships (U-21) and became world champions in 2019 (U-20)? Especially as there is rarely such a constellation of stars when you hesitate to give preference to the national team - the one featuring Yarmolenko and Konoplyanka, or the current one featuring Sudakov and Bondarenko.
The behaviour of Vanatat in the match of the home team with Malta - is a manifestation of aggression (in an effort to get ahead of the opponent's goal the player put dangerously close his leg in a challenge with the Maltese goalkeeper and eventually hit his face and arm with his foot - editor's note). But with a plus or minus sign - that's what the player's future life and career will show. After all, if you look on the bright side, it is impossible to be a striker without aggression.
True, at the same time it is necessary that the state of the player's nervous system is calm and he thinks, and does not go overboard. The same applies to Vanatat's action in the game against Romania, which made no sense. Especially when you consider that the game was going very well for our national team and there was no reason to worry.
It was a grave mistake on Vanat's part, and I think the player himself regrets that.
I will say one more important thing that concerns Vanat. We should not forget that a player's price also depends on such shenanigans. As does his future participation in top clubs. After all, few delinquent players are wanted in their squad. Do you remember the Italian Balotelli? Everyone said he was a football diamond - so what? Where is that diamond now? So Vanatu needs to be aware that the youth team have a tournament, and not one main game. That's why I'm sorry that this kind of thing happens and has a worrying tendency," Fedorchuk said.
