Almost 400 matches have been played since September 1965 by Dynamo Kyiv in European cup tournaments - Cup Winners Cup, Champions Cup, Champions League, UEFA Cup, Europa League.

I was lucky enough to attend many games that took place in Kyiv and abroad. I remember many of them, but today I will focus on the two most memorable ones. I have told about them many times, but every time I remember interesting moments and details that I have not mentioned before. Dynamo fans are proud of their results and will be proud and remember them for a long time, because they are really unforgettable. In autumn 1975, in the battle for the European Super Cup Valeriy Lobanovskiy's team in the rank of the Cup Winners' Cup twice defeated Bayern Munich, a multiple winner of the Champions' Cup, the base team of the FRG national team, where world champions Meyer, Vogts, Schwarzenbeck, Beckenbauer, Muller played.

I will tell you about these two matches of the memorable 1975. I am sure it will be of interest to fans of the current generation of the Bilo-Syni.

I will start with the first game in Munich on 9 September on the pitch of the Olympiastadion, the stands of which hold 80,000 spectators. However, only 32.000 fans watched the match between Bayern and Dynamo. The organisers of the match sharply increased the ticket prices and failed - the expensive passes remained in the ticket offices. But those who watched the game from the stands left the arena in a spoilt mood. There was a reason for that.

Masterpieces on the Olympiastadion pitch

The guests created the first dangerous moment only in the middle of the first half. Oleg Blokhin's rapid flank breakthrough almost resulted in a goal. Oleg crossed to the far post, Meyer carelessly left the goal, and Leonid Buriak, who was ahead of him, sent the ball into the far corner. Zobel rushed to the ball at the moment when it seemed impossible to catch up, but by some miracle he still knocked the ball off the goal line centimetres away from the goal line. The 67th minute was fatal for Bayern. Blokhin again demonstrated a masterpiece on the green turf. Here's how it was.

The striker took the ball to the centre of the pitch, dribbled it forward and, accompanied by the opposing defenders, rushed down the flank. Not reaching the corner of the penalty area, Oleh looked around in search of his partners, but they had not yet managed to come out of defence, and Blokhin did not see any Dynamo players in the Bayern half of the pitch. At this moment on the same half of the pitch, except for the goalkeeper Meyer, there were five more defence players of the hosts. It seemed to be a hopeless situation for the forward. But Blokhin, having moved a bit to the centre, bravely went into the fight. Showing extraordinary skill in circumvention, he beat first two defenders, then immediately the third and, before the fourth defender had time to join the fight, the forward immediately and without hesitation struck a rare in accuracy shot into the given corner - 1:0.

Here is what the author of the masterpiece said about his slalom breakthrough: "There are four of them against one, and they are sure that they can easily stop me. At the same time, everyone is hoping for a neighbour to some extent. This makes my task easier... Let's go! I make deceptive movements with my body to the right and left, while throwing the ball from foot to foot, so I manage to get round Schwarzenbeck and another defender. A third man rushes in. It's already easier with one, especially since Schwarzenbeck, my main guardian, has fallen. So he's behind. And the fourth is far away. One more step, and I dare to punch it. Meyer, as it seemed to me, was so confident in his defenders that he didn't have time to prepare for the "meeting". I move to the near corner, and I see that the goalkeeper is shifting there too. When he rushed towards me, I shot into the open corner of the goal".

And here is how Leonid Buriak recalls this moment: "When Oleg received the ball from Konkov, I was nearby. I thought that Oleg would not go forward, because we all stayed in our half of the field. It was more logical to throw the ball back. However, Oleg decided otherwise and started his raid. "Hold on Olez," - I thought, and immediately ran to help him, but did not catch up. Three Bayern defenders were already behind him. I saw the shot and Meyer grabbed his head in despair. Goal! I didn't know what to do, not believing in such happiness. I even closed my eyes.

The Bayern players were knocked out, all their attempts to get back into the game failed. Dynamo defenders did not allow to create anything serious at their goal. Dynamo's victory was a surprise in Germany and in Europe. To be honest, few expected such a result in Ukraine.

Dittmar Kramer, Bayern coach: "Dynamo is one of the best club teams in the world, and Blokhin's goal is magnificent."

Valeriy Lobanovskiy, Dynamo coach: "All players played the match strongly, I don`t want to single out anyone. The tactical task was fulfilled, we held back the hosts' offence".

Here is the line-up of the Dynamo players in Munich: Rudakov, Konkov, Fomenko, Zuev, Reshko, Damin, Troshkin, Kolotov, Buryak, Slobodyan, Blokhin.

The fans of Dynamo and Bayern were impatiently and anxiously waiting for the second match of the rivals, now in Kyiv on 6 October. Where the European Super Cup - a 15-kilogram cup made of gold and silver - will winter. We will talk about this match next time.
