Former Shakhtar Donetsk player Vyacheslav Shevchuk, who is now the general manager of Rukh Lviv, spoke about his meeting with former Shakhtar and Dynamo Kyiv coach Mircea Lucescu, who recently visited the Ukrainian capital.
- Viacheslav, I saw on your Instagram that you met with Lucescu during his visit to Kyiv.
- What can I say? We are just old friends, we met and sat together. Mister is a world football legend who has given a lot of his knowledge to Ukraine. He is a great figure for our football.
- How did you meet him?
- Mister called me and said that he was in Kyiv and offered to meet. We have a very good relationship with him, we have a lot in common.
- Lucescu attended Dynamo's match against Polissia. Did he tell you who he liked?
- He likes a lot of young players from the UPL: from Dynamo, Shakhtar, Polissia and Rukh. Mister loves young people. We have a very strong country in terms of developing footballers. We have to work hard.
- The Ukrainian national team for Euro 2024 is in the same group as Romania. Will Lucescu advise our rivals before the match with Rebrov's team?
- I don't think he will advise them. But I know for sure that Mister wants to work harder. He has the strength and emotions - that's a fact. He lives for football every day. During our dinner, we watched matches and talked only about football.
- What matches did you watch?
- Sivasspor vs Fenerbahce, which played out in a 2-2 draw. Mister watches different leagues: UPL, Serie A, Turkish Super League, and he knows all the players. In other words, he's in the know.
- Given that you watched Fenerbahce, will Lucescu still take over at Besiktas?
- I don't know. It will be the choice of the Mister. I'm sure he will have invitations. I repeat, he has a great desire to work.
- Have you talked to him about our group for Euro 2024, where, in addition to Romania, there are also the national teams of Belgium and Slovakia?
- He always says that our national team has great potential. Our team shows a good game, we have many quality players and young talents.
