Following Sweden, England may also abandon the video assistant refereeing (VAR) system. In any case, on 6 June, the clubs of the English Premier League at their annual meeting will vote to abandon this system from next season.
The initiator of such a vote was "Wolverhampton".
"It is time for a constructive and critical debate about the future of VAR. The price we pay for a small increase in accuracy is contrary to the spirit of the game itself," - so sounds the basic argument of this club in its official resolution, which calls for a vote on VAR.
It should be added that at least 14 out of 20 votes from APL clubs need to be gathered for VAR to be cancelled.
