Ahmed Refaat, a striker for the Egyptian national team and the Füche club, died during a local championship match. The footballer suffered a heart attack, the press service of the Egyptian Football Association reports.
"The board of directors of the Egyptian Football Association asks the almighty God to cover Refaat with his great mercy and to inspire his family and loved ones with patience and comfort... We belong to God, and we will return to him," the press service of the Egyptian Football Association said in a statement.
Ahmed Refaat died at the age of 31. During his career, he defended the colors of Zamalek, Al-Ittihad and Füche. He played 7 matches for the Egyptian national team and scored 2 goals.
