The head coach of Ternopil Niva and expert Yuriy VIRT shared his thoughts on the merger of the two Lviv clubs.
— Honestly, I am shocked. I can say that this is a big "plus" for Karpaty because they really can strengthen with very quality footballers from Ruh.
Unfortunately, a team such as (referring to Ruh — ed.) is disappearing, and such an ambitious project is disappearing in Ukraine. I know Hryhoriy Petrovych Kozlovskyi, who really invested all his heart into this project. He put it on the right tracks. This was one of the teams that was progressing, with fantastic infrastructure. And it all collapsed — it’s hard to believe.
I would like to think that everything may change in a month or two. I would like this team to exist because it has a good academy. We see how many young talents there are. This is a big "plus" for Lviv's Karpaty.
We see from the two matches of the Lviv derby in the Ukrainian championship and Cup, the emotions, the passion that was on the football field. All Lviv residents were waiting for these matches. Fans enjoyed watching these two confrontations. Many footballers and fans said that such intensity is rare in Ukraine. And it appeared, but unfortunately it ended so quickly. Let’s hope that in a month or two something will change. Anything is possible.
I was at both matches between Karpaty and Ruh. I will say that I liked everything about those matches. Both teams were just incredible, they gave emotions to the fans. There could have been more matches, but there won’t be any later.
Ruh will play until the end of the season, and how it will be in the summer… I really would like this team to exist, because teams are disappearing in Ukraine, and here is such news that such an ambitious project with talented footballers will disappear. I would like such good teams to disappear for the last time, — said VIRT.
