The head coach of “Manchester City”, Josep Guardiola, reacted to the words of Jürgen Klopp, who criticized FIFA for changing the format of the Club World Cup: he emphasized that in modern football, players hardly rest due to the intense schedule.
— Listen, I have faced Jürgen many times. I understand why he has such ideas. We have crossed paths many times in the EPL, and when we attended conferences organized by UEFA, we had many discussions about the EPL calendar and its possible changes. We discussed how to give players and coaches more rest to improve the quality of the game. Therefore, his comments do not surprise me at all.
I understand Jürgen. I respect him. I had an incredible relationship with Jürgen during our coaching duels. Now Jürgen is not coaching, and I understand his argument because in his place, I would have said similar words.
At the same time, we continue to do our job. We adhere to the rules of FIFA, UEFA, and the EPL. It is not us, the coaches, who organize the competitions.
We are proud to have reached the Club World Cup. Many teams complain about this competition because they are not here. They would be happy if they made it here, — said Josep Guardiola.
