Football expert Oleksandr Sopko shared his thoughts on the transfer of Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Viktor Tsyhankov to Spanish Girona.
- I would not say that for Tsygankov the option with Girona is a step forward. But I don't think this is a step backwards either. I would rather characterize this as a reboot, since in Dynamo he clearly turned sour, as, in fact, the entire capital team stopped. Therefore, he needs a new challenge, a new motivation for himself.
Girona is not a top club, but perhaps there is no tragedy in this, since this is a club with ambitions. This is a very promising project, given that there are ambitious owners from the Middle East. I managed to watch several games of this team, they show very nice football and it is clear that the team is developing, a much higher goal is set than sometimes to play in Example.
Therefore, if they are able to assemble a new squad, strengthen with more players, then by Spanish standards it will be a good club with European ambitions. And perhaps it will be useful for Tsygankov to participate in such a project. Well, there it will be on the radars of big Spanish clubs, it is still one of the top European championships. And if Victor adds, reveals all his potential, then subsequent proposals are possible.
— Were there any talks on the Internet about the option with Anderlecht, is it just talk or could there be a real offer?
- And why is Girona worse? She plays almost through the tour with teams that play in European competitions, I'm not talking about Real Madrid with Barcelona. In fact, these are games in the Champions League. And with whom does Anderlecht play in their league? With Genk, with Brugge. But with all due respect, this is a bit off the mark. Plus, in terms of a personal contract, I don’t think that Anderlecht could offer conditions higher than Girona. So it’s a normal move to test your potential, your capabilities against the backdrop of the Spanish championship.
- Can we say that it is better for Tsygankov to leave now, since this is the last chance not to become, conditionally, the second Khacheridi in the future?
- Never say never". There are many examples when players start early and also finish early, there were many stars who transitioned early, and they did not succeed. And there were many cases when a football player had a late transfer, in adulthood, everyone thought that he went to finish the game. And as a result, the player got a second wind, and he showed excellent results.
There is no limit to perfection if you really want it. Everything will depend on Victor's character, his ambitions, how greedy he is for football, before his development. 25 years old - the age when it seems that a football player has already formed, cannot add much. On the other hand, it is possible that he still has unspent potential, which neither Lucescu nor his predecessors managed to draw out at Dynamo.
It will be interesting to watch this, since for a very long time Tsygankov was in the ratings of the most expensive Ukrainian football players, we saw his abilities and talent. And now let's look at a purely laboratory experiment, without impurities and other things. You got into a good league where you will play against great teams. And there it will be seen what you are. We will keep our fists so that Victor succeeds.
