Shakhtar's strategic development director Yuriy Sviridov spoke in a commentary for Tribuna.com about the club's position on the creation of a unified UPL TV pool.
"We welcome the fact that there is competition in the issue of TV rights realisation in the UPL. This is confirmed by today's discussion. We see that even not in full the rights to show UPL matches have value. This inspires confidence that the price for the product will grow in the future.
"Shakhtar made a decision to go the way of UPL TV. This preserves the unity of the majority of clubs and allows us to move towards the concept of a pay-per-view model. Here we are consistent and are confident that only together we can create a product demanded by the fans," Sviridov said.
According to TaToTake, 11 clubs voted in favour of the UPL TV project with the possibility to be placed on MEGOGO and other OTT platforms.
"Veres and Shakhtar had until 18:00 today to decide.
