Oleksandr Karavayev, a defender of Dynamo Kyiv, attended yesterday's Ukrainian ice hockey championship match between Sokol Kyiv and Dnipro Kherson.
"My dad used to play hockey, and later I started skating in the Unics children's team. Ivan Pavlyshyn, the most talented among us, was training alongside me in our group. He later played for the Ukrainian youth national team and abroad.
I gave up hockey, and it so happened that I hadn't been to a real hockey match until now. I also came here, so to speak, by accident. A few weeks ago I was in Odesa. There, the Dnipro doctor (Oleksandr Radkevych - ed.) recognised me. He came up to me, said hello, and invited me to a hockey game.
I was going to support my hometown team during the recent matches against Tryzub at the Kyiv Sports Palace. But I got here only now. And I have no regrets. It's interesting to watch Dnipro and Sokil play," the press service of the Ukrainian Ice Hockey Federation quoted Karavaev on its Facebook page.
