After the end of the Ukrainian championship of the 2023/2024 season, all Ukrainian representatives in the European club tournaments of the 2024/2025 season were determined.
Photo: uefa.comFor us, the European season starts on 19 June, when the pairs of the second qualifying round of the Champions League and the second qualifying round of the Conference League will be formed. The first matches for domestic teams at these stages are scheduled for 23-25 July.
In total, five clubs will represent Ukraine in the European competitions.
The winner of the Premier League, Shakhtar, will get a ticket to the play-offs of the Champions League qualifying round. There is only one stage to the Champions League group, and if our champion fails, it will be placed in the Europa League group. However, the Pitmen have the opportunity to qualify directly for the Champions League group, but only if Real Madrid wins the Champions League final on 1 June.
The silver medallist, Dynamo, will advance to the second qualifying round of the CL. It will have to overcome the resistance of three opponents to reach the CL group. In case of failure at any stage, our representative will move on to the Europa League, but to the group only if it defeats at least one opponent in the CL, otherwise it will have to qualify for the Europa League. Here, by the way, there is a third chance to secure the Euro autumn after the first two failures - in the LC qualifiers.
One club will represent Ukraine in the Europa League - Kryvbas - in the third qualifying round. If it fails in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers, it will automatically move to the Conference League, but only if it defeats at least one opponent in the UEFA Europa League.
The country will have two delegates in the basic register of the Conference League. The fourth and fifth teams of the UPL (Dnipro-1 and Polissia) will start in the second qualifying round. Thus, our clubs will have to go through three opponents to get to the main LC grid.
It should be added that 36 clubs will play in the group rounds of all three European competitions.
The biggest change will be the transition from the traditional group stage to a single league stage that includes all participating teams. Now, in the Champions League, each club will be guaranteed at least eight matches in the league stage against eight different opponents (four home and four away), rather than the previous six matches against three teams, played home and away. The top eight teams in the league will automatically qualify for the play-offs, while the teams ranked ninth to 24th will compete in a two-match play-off to secure a place in the last 16.
Similar format changes will also be applied to the Europa League (eight matches in the league stage) and the Conference League (six matches in the league stage).
The 7th and 8th rounds of the UCL and the Europa League will take place in January 2025. The LC will end with the sixth round in December.

Champions League
TheUPL champion ( Shakhtar ) will start in the play-off round (or in the group stage).
The draw takes place on 5 August (or 29 August), with matches on 20/21 and 27/28 August (or 17-19 September).
TheUPL vice-champion (Dynamo ) will start in the second qualifying round.
The draw is on 19 June, with matches on 23/24 and 30/31 July.
Europa League
Thethird UPL team (Kryvbas ) will start in the third qualifying round.
Draw - 22 July, matches - 8 and 15 August.
Conference League
Thefourth UPL team (Dnipro-1 ) will start in the second qualifying round.
The draw is on 19 June, the matches are on 25 July and 1 August.
Thefifth UPL team (Polissya ) will start in the second qualifying round.
