Megogo Marketing Director Valeria Tolochina commented on the criticism directed at the media service for inviting non-football experts to pre-match studios.
— We look at the numbers and the views of this studio. By these metrics, it was super successful. More people attended than in general to other studios because we invited new individuals who have their own media presence.
At the same time, we had Nagornyak and Golovko (referring to the match on October 14, Ukraine — Czech Republic — ed.). No one questions these experts because they are indeed super professionals. But there are certain difficulties in the market, as not all sports experts are proficient in Ukrainian to come to the studio, especially before 2022. There were experts who were definitely knowledgeable, but unfortunately they spoke Russian. Now the situation is improving, many are learning so that they can work live. But at first, we indeed had a difficult situation where people told us: “Sorry, but I can’t speak Ukrainian.” And we can’t release Russian — that’s a principled position.
You mentioned Maslyuk and Trembovetsky. These are not people who sat and laughed in the studio, who didn’t understand the topic. Even Vitaliy Volochay once wrote on social media that he liked the studio with Trembovetsky. He is definitely knowledgeable both in football and generally in the field of sports.
Sometimes it is necessary to add entertaining content. In our case — these were experiments. We heard that part of the audience perceived them negatively. Now we approach this more cautiously. But at the same time, I won’t promise you that we won’t experiment either. After all, the task of the streaming platform is to try something new, including raising public discussions.
As for football fans who didn’t like it, we heard them. Our latest studios were exclusively with experts, and we didn’t add an entertaining element, — said Tolochina.
