- Yes, it is true. I am finishing my career and will work at Vorskla.
- In what position?
- There are no specifics yet. Most likely, I will work in the coaching staff of Serhii Dolganskyi.
- How did you decide to end your career as a player?
- I had chronic injuries, after which it was getting harder and harder to recover. That's why I made this decision.
- Who will you pass the Vorskla captain's armband to?
- Of course, to Perdyunka (Ihor Perduta - author), who else (smiles).
- Mykola Pavlov told us that after winning the Ukrainian Cup in 2009, he started a tradition: the management pays a cash prize of $25,000 to Vorskla veterans who finish their careers in Poltava. Mykola Petrovych even addressed Zhevago through our website so that you would not be forgotten.
- So far, I don't know anything about it. When they thank me or not, I will tell you.
- Are you going to join Vorskla's coaching staff from the new season or from the next match against LNZ?
- I have a valid player's contract until the summer. I think I will start a new job after the holidays.
- Vorskla's results in the second round are noticeably lame. What is the reason for this?
- You have correctly noted that the result was limping, first of all, and the game itself, I think, was at a decent level. We lost points in games where we should have won, against Kolos and Minaya. If we had gained those six points, our standings would not have looked so bad. We fell a little short in the final phase, because we had our chances.
- What is the situation with Vorskla's financing now, are there any debts?
- It's a sin for us to complain about funding when there is a war in the country. Let's not make God angry. Yes, there are some debts, but they are not so critical, about three months' worth. The management is working to pay them off.
- My question is this: Vorskla's owner Kostiantyn Zhevago is abroad at the moment. Will there be any stability next season?
- I should thank Konstantin Valentinovich for not leaving the team in this difficult time. Although there is a small debt, Vorskla's financing is stable.
- Who do you like among Vorskla's young players now?
- I really like Krupskyi, Pavliuk, Khrypchuk. The guys play at a decent level.
- Which of these guys can become Vorskla's legend, Chesnakov's No. 2?
- The same Pavlyuk, if, of course, he is not lured away.
- You were not lured away in your time. Pavlov told me how he offered you much better conditions in Illichivka, but you refused.
- It happened. When you do what you love, it's great. And when you do your favourite thing in your hometown, where your wife, children, parents and friends live, it's twice as cool. At such moments, you work with double pleasure. By and large, I never wanted to leave Vorskla. This is my home club. I followed the principle: "You don't look for a good thing from a bad thing".
- There is a theory that a former goalkeeper cannot be a good head coach. Tell us, what kind of coach is Dolgansky?
- I definitely disagree with this theory. Serhiy Mykolayovych sets up a game for Vorskla that the fans like. The only thing is that we lack a little bit of results. Secondly, he is a very fair, decent and honest person.
Can you compare him to Skrypnyk? I'm not going to do that. For everyone, the most important thing is the result, and it can be achieved in different ways, each coach has his own training process.
Dolgansky is definitely not a dictator, he is more of a democrat. He will talk to each player and give them some advice.
- There are a lot of rumours circulating around Isenko that he might leave the team in the summer. Do you know anything about this?
- You have to ask him about it. As far as I know, Isenko wants to stay at Vorskla, but he is still negotiating with the management.
- Does Vorskla already have a goal for the next season?
- Vorskla's objectives remain the same from year to year - a place in the European Cup zone. So next season we will try to achieve this goal.
