Defender of the Spanish club Sevilla Kike Salas has been arrested on suspicion of deliberately receiving yellow cards in matches of the Spanish championship, with the aim of allowing his two friends to profit from betting in bookmakers, reports COPE. The 22-year-old footballer's friends are also under arrest.
According to the source, the investigation will focus on the end of the last season of the Spanish championship: during this period, Salas received seven warnings in nine matches.
If Salas's guilt is proven, he faces imprisonment for a term of six months to three years for fraud.
