Former Croatia coach Miroslav Blazevic died today at the age of 88, the Croatian Football Association has announced.

Blazevic, who fought cancer in the last years of his life, is one of the most famous Croatian coaches. In 1994-2000, he was the head coach of the Croatian national team, with which he won bronze medals at the 1998 World Cup. Also, his team reached the quarter-finals of Euro 1996. In addition, he has 9 trophies in Yugoslavia, Croatia and Switzerland.
In 2001, Blazhevich was considered as one of the candidates for the post of head coach of the Ukrainian national team.
