The then Manchester United midfielder and now owner of Inter Miami received a straight red card that left the team ten men down and Argentina through to the final after a penalty shootout.
"First of all, I don't think Beckham's kick was worthy of a red card, but it doesn't matter. He made a mistake and it bothers me even after all these years. A lot of players only play in one World Cup play-off in their career and Beckham made a big mistake. I think he recognised that. You could argue that it contributed to us crashing out of the World Cup, so it's not a small thing," Owen said.
