Ruslan Rotan, head coach of the Ukrainian Olympic team, commented on the 1-2 defeat to Argentina in the third match of the 2024 Games and summarized the Ukrainian team's performance at its debut Olympics.
"Apparently, the result of the match with Argentina is not according to the game, it does not correspond to reality. The regularity of the result is that the skill of a particular episode is decided individually by the players. Argentina's individuality was present, so we have this score.
As for the game itself, we played better than Argentina without exaggeration and did not deserve to lose.
Speaking in general about our performance at the Olympics, I am pleased with the guys, they are great, they can play at the level of top-level teams. But to do this, we need to have such tension in every match. When we play a match for seven hours in Ukraine, it shows.
We thank the guys for their attitude. The fact that we are at this tournament is a great success for our country. And in the future, if the guys believe in their game so much, we will have victories at the Olympic Games. God willing, the war will end and there will be peace," Suspilne quoted Rotan as saying.
