Former Vorskla Poltava footballer Serhii Yavorskyi spoke about his meniscus surgery and his search for a new club.
- Serhii, you are no longer with Vorskla, are you looking for a new club?
- That's right, that's right. We parted ways with the club in a normal way, I have no complaints, I hope, just like the club has no complaints about me. I have excellent relations with the management and coaching staff.
- Have you paid your salary, is everything OK?
- There are still issues with this. But everything is being resolved in the usual way, just like with the other guys.
- You spent three years in Poltava, what happened?
- I had an injury, we decided to part ways.
- Are you looking for a new club?
- I don't even know if my playing career will continue. Anything can happen.
- Do I understand correctly that you don't know if you'll be able to play in any league for health reasons?
- I wouldn't want any other league than the UPL. Or the first one, but with the task of promotion. So far, I have not received any offers. It's important for me to get my health back on track, and then we'll see.
- So, if there is no UPL club or potential leader of the First League, are you ready to end your career?
- I'm not quite ready, but I considered this option. I have grown-up children, I need to think about schools and kindergartens and give them priority. I need to look for a job, I have a head on my shoulders. I do not rule out the end of my career, but I would not like to think about it.
- Is there an injury to your knee?
- Yes, I had an operation on my meniscus two months ago - 25% of the meniscus was cut out. It was nothing supernatural. I had a similar operation on my left knee five years ago and a month later I trained in the general group.
I can do all the loads now - it doesn't swell or hurt. I suffered for three years, with injections and pills. Maybe it's for the best that I had the operation now. Thanks to Vorskla, it's at their expense.
- Are you able to train now?
- On the third day after the operation, Vorskla's rehabilitation therapist Vadik Sapai started to restore me, and I'm also grateful to him. I can already take up full-time work, which I am doing in principle.
- Does your knee feel better than before the operation?
- Even better than two years ago.
- Can you withstand all the loads?
- Without training with the team, I can't say for sure. I can do any loads individually.
- So you need to join the team to be sure that you can withstand the same loads?
- Yes, that's right.
- If you have to start your post-football life, what are you considering?
- I'd like to stay close to football, I've been here for so many years, it's hard to rebuild now. But in what role, I don't know. My education is not in physical education. I studied at the university at the economics department, banking.
- All footballers over 30 start to mentally try on other club professions. Do you do the same?
- I'm ready to play and work as someone else at the club at the same time. I'm planning to apply to study to become a coach, maybe one of the teachers will tell me something. Perhaps I will continue in sports management.
