The well-known journalist Mykola Neseniuk touched upon the topic of football clubs' selection work.

"The fever of football "strengthening" comes with the regularity of the change of season. Once upon a time, in the old days, our football teams used to "strengthen" mainly in the winter, after finishing another championship and preparing for the next one. Now, because we actually have two championships a year - autumn and spring - the fever comes twice: in July and August, and in January and February.

The really serious teams are hardly affected by this disease: they have their own pupils who are eager to join the main team, and there are several newcomers who have been "guided" for a long time beforehand, determining the need for their invitation. So the fewer newcomers a team has who have played for other teams before, the more powerful it looks. And not because new players are not needed. A long time ago, one of Dynamo's coaches, when asked which positions in the team he would like to strengthen with new players, answered briefly: All of them! Every coach will tell you the same thing, even Guardiola, who has two world teams. The difference between Guardiola and our coaches is that he can (!!!) do it - his team has the money to buy out the transfer of almost any player, and the prestige - who doesn't want to play in one of the best teams in the world?

Our coaches do not have this. Therefore, you have to choose - either to bring up your own replacement by investing in a club football school, or to "breed" the owner to "buy" players of dubious quality. Why dubious? Because a really good player will not join our team for less than twenty million euros. And virtually no one in Ukraine can afford such "reinforcements" today.

As a result, on the eve of the resumption of the championship, we see some teams recruiting newcomers in handfuls, as they say, "for the task at hand". Experience shows that this never works out well. Only one or two players can really fit into the team, but that's at best. More often than not, newcomers tear the team apart rather than strengthen it. Every coach knows this very well. So where does this regular "fever" come from?

There is only one reason - the team owner's desire to get results now! A coach who says that it takes years of consistent work for a team to succeed can pack his bags! The only way is to ask for "reinforcement", which, of course, costs money. Ukrainian owners don't have the money to buy really good players, so they bring in a lot of illiquid football from all over the world. And this is not just our problem - just look at the leading teams in modest Moldova or even more modest Latvia! You can study geography from their line-ups, which is useful for people who have devoted their lives to football and have no time for anything else. I'm not talking about football agents - it's better not to go near this swamp.

As a result, in the coming months we will see in our football championship a confrontation between those teams that, understanding the current realities, rely mainly on their own strength, and those who have urgently "strengthened" with numerous newcomers. I would immediately give preference to the former, if not for the fact that not everything in our championship is not always decided on the football field. At least that was the case before the change of football authorities. We'll see what happens now!" Nesenyuk wrote on his Facebook page.
